Assistance to designers becomes even more valuable and effective thanks to the fact that MTS has all the resources for research, development and product testing.
A highly experienced and flexible design office, both creative and productive, is concentrated in the Milan hub. In the Forlì Research and Development hub it is possible to verify in real time all the new production solutions and at the same time facilitate the certifications (acoustic, air, water and wind), significantly reducing the time for bureaucratic procedures on alternative solutions and new materials. An objective operational advantage that MTS is able to guarantee as a historical and reputed reality.
our laboratories
Acoustic testing facility
This facility was introduced to allow for acoustic testing of our products. The installation of the acoustic chamber allows us to deliver acoustically high performing solutions whilst providing immediate feedback on the quality and efficiency by testing of technical mock-ups.
The testing facility is composed by two adjacent semi-reverberant rooms with an opening, where the mock-up is placed to be tested. The testing facility has been built in accordance with UNI EN ISO 10140 with the support of Istituto Giordano and it is located at the ground floor of the production site in Forlì, as part of the Research and Development hub. The two rooms are designed to allow measurements of sound insulation and sound reduction as per the following regulations:
UNI EN 10140-1: Acoustics - Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements - Part 1: Application rules for specific products
UNI EN 10140-2: Acoustics - Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements - Part 2: Measurement of airborne sound insulation
UNI EN 10140-4: Acoustics - Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements - Part 4: Measurement procedures and requirements
UNI EN 10140-5: Acoustics - Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements - Part 5: Requirements for test facilities and equipment
UNI EN 717-1: Acoustics - Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements - Part 1: Airborne sound insulation
UNI EN ISO 3382-2: Acoustics - Measurement of room acoustic parameters - Part 2: Reverberation time in ordinary rooms
UNI EN 14351-1: Windows and doors - Product standard, performance characteristics - Part 1: Windows and external pedestrian doorsets
Air permeability, water permeability and wind testing facility
The air permeability, water permeability and wind testing facility was built in 2004, providing our independent capability to test weather performances of façade components and also perform official testing by accredited bodies.
The laboratory provides a steel chamber to which the performance mock-up is installed (windows and curtain walls) and all the instruments needed to supply air/water flow and measure it. All instruments are bespoke and have been provided by Istituto Giordano, and have been designed and installed according to the following regulations:
Windows:
UNI EN 1026: Windows and doors - Air permeability - Test method.
UNI EN 12207: Windows and doors - Air permeability - Classification
UNI EN 1027: Windows and doors - Water tightness - Test method
UNI EN 12208: Windows and doors - Watertightness - Classification
UNI EN 12211: Windows and doors - Resistance to wind load - Test method
UNI EN 12210: Windows and doors - Resistance to wind load - Classification
Curtain wall:
UNI EN 12153: Curtain walling - Air permeability - Test method
UNI EN 12152: Curtain walling - Air permeability - Classification
UNI EN 12155: Curtain walling - Water tightness - Test method
UNI EN 12154: Curtain walling - Watertightness - Classification
UNI EN 12179: Curtain walling - Resistance to wind load - Test method
UNI EN 13116: Curtain walling - Resistance to wind load – Classification
